Equipment

The basic uniform worn by most of our beginner students is a lightweight cotton/polyester blend. As the student progresses through the ranks, some parents reward their children with a new lettered heavyweight uniform (like the instructors wear) with the school name on the back.

Lettering is put on the uniform to show school spirit and pride. Patches for the uniform are: the ATA patch, the red, triangular school patch or Victory Patch. Other patches include the Black Belt Club Patch (worn on the left sleeve by all Black Belt Club members) or the Master Club Patch (worn on the right sleeve for color belt Master Club members and on both sleeves for Black Belt Master Club members).
Sparring begins when a student earns his/her camo belt, but may begin earlier if the student has elected to enroll in the Black Belt Club. Sparring gear is required to participate in this activity for safety reasons. The set includes pads to protect the hands, feet, chest and head and a mouth guard. A new set of sparring gear, in most cases, will last a couple of years.
