Karate for Kids - Ages 6 -12
"Every Kid is a Winner! Every Kid is Special!"
There are many reasons for kids to become involved in the Martial Arts. Most of the time, the kids show an interest so that they can do all of the cool things seen on TV or the movies. In other instances, parents are interested in Martial Arts for the discipline and structure it offers. The American Taekwondo Association has developed a program based on traditional Taekwondo for kids called Karate for Kids that address both the parent's needs and the kid's needs. The Karate for Kids system is based on a lifetime learning concept in addition to technical taekwondo skills. The building blocks for our system are based on monthly themes such as:
Goals / Self Control / Courtesy / Integrity / Friendship / Confidence / Self Awareness / Self - Esteem / Dedication / Self Improvement / Respect / Perseverance
In addition to monthly themes, our system includes the unique victory patch. Kids are rewarded special "Victory Stars" to be placed on these collectable patches. This system is based on the idea of positive re-enforcement. These different colored stars are awarded for outstanding performance in taekwondo class, school, home or at a tournament competition. Using this "reward" method, we can better tie together the many facets of the students life and enhance it through the building blocks above. Kids may receive the following stars for the following deeds:
Red Tournament participation, Other Sports activities, Demonstrations, and Other Outstanding Physical Achievements Blue Monthly and Weekly themes, Behavior and Classroom performance Silver Special performance awards, Great behavior reports from home or school Gold Honor roll, Significant Improvement, Great Report Cards
Four different colored Victory Patches are available to accommodate all the stars that can be earned by a high achieving Karate Kid:
Blue 0-24 Stars Silver 25-49 Stars Gold 50-99 Stars Blue/Gold 100+ Stars
